Fun at the fair
This week we went to the state fair to see my buttermilk biscuits. They got a blue ribbon (second place). I'm so happy they went to state! We had alot of fun at the fair with our good friends. Some things that we enjoyed at the fair were holding baby chicks, holding puppies, watching pigs race, playing in an old train car, riding on the rides. We love the Fair!!

Bird Sighting at Squaw Creek
While we were camping at big lake, we went to Squaw Creek Wildlife Refuge. We enjoyed hiking on a trail through the bluffs and drove on the auto tour loop. On the hiking trail an indigo bunting sang to us and showed off is lovely indigo feathers, we also sighted an Baltimore oriole. On the auto tour loop we saw wild turkey, American white pelicans, great blue heron, snowy egret, spotted sandpiper, belted kingfisher, red headed wood pecker, a Doe and her fawn, wood ducks, and mallard ducks. Rachael and I enjoyed watching Pat and Tracy and Elliot in the car behind us!
Paddleing on big lake
Rachael, Elliot and I had a lot of fun in our blow up boat the sea hawk, we were very adventurous and decided to paddle all the way across this small lake, this is when Elliot decided to stay behind and make a sand creation. That isn't a very long way but it was more of a challenge because motor boats and jet ski were traveling on the lake also. This did not discourage either of us, so we set off in our raft and paddled forward. In due time Rachael and I were on the other side of the lake and were homeward bound. Fun Times!!

Camping at Big Lake
Over the summer we enjoyed some family time camping at big lake state park in Missouri. Elliot, Rachael, and I all learned how to ride our bikes with no hands! We enjoyed making campfire meals, setting up our two man tent, and enjoying ice cream with grandpa. We also celebrated Rachael's 11th birthday at a local ice cream shop in Mound City, MO!

Granny Square Crazy
Recently I have been making a lot a granny square blankets. I have made three Granny Square baby blankets in the last two weeks, I'm working on my fourth. I have been making the blankets to sell and to give as baby gifts, I hope to start making baby hats and booties soon. I told mom the other day that I don't ever want to make another granny square again for the rest of the year. I don't think I will be able to keep my word.
My 4 legged best friend
Sammy our black lab is truly a part of the family. Sammy enjoys his daily walks in the morning and will not do without them. He loves to sleep in the backyard "sun spots". Sammy has taught him self how to jump the garden fence, he enjoys eating the bell peppers straight off the plant. Then with a full belly he snoozes on the broccoli. One day he was caught in the very middle of his dirty trick, how silly he must have felt then.
