The apple orchard

This week we went on a field trip with our home school group, to Ditmars apple orchard. We went through a corn maze and rode the tractor up to the apple trees to pick apples. I'm very glad that we went.
Isn't this a funny picture, it looks like we are flying. :)

Chicago!!

I've decided the I like big cities a lot!

Climbing the Willis tower

While we were in Chicago we went to the top pf the Willis tower (it was named the Sears tower). We took an elevator all the way to the top of the building, the elevators go 18 miles per hour and they cram the people in there like sardines. Once we were at the top, we could see the whole city of Chicago in every direction, on a very clear day you can see up to 5 miles in every direction. Built on to the building are these glass boxes the you can stand on. Those were a little scary, but Elliot was not phased in the slightest.

our trip to Chicago

This weekend we went to Chicago, for the Bears-Steelers football game that Elliot went to with Grandpa. :)
While we were there we walked along the harbor of lake Michigan.
Isn't this dog cute!?!
We took a water taxi all the way through the city to the Sears tower (re-named the Willis tower).

my morning glories

My morning glories grew all the way up the house this year. I love being able to look out the window during school and see there cheery blooms.

Visiting a Honey Farm

Recently we went to a Honey Farm with our home school group. We experienced how the honey is taken from the honey comb and spun out in the Extractor. We also saw the filtered honey pouring into a 55 gallon bucket. Afterward we enjoyed lunch together out on the lawn. Thank you Mrs. Kolar for organizing the field trip!

Florence Nightingale

This week I finished a biography on Florence Nightingale, I really enjoyed it. She was a very diligent woman with a servants heart. I highly recommend it!

The State Fair

Although it was raining we still went to the State Fair, and we had a great time! We were able to look at the 4-H fair entry's. Congratulations Becca that your baby cardigan went to state. In the Birthing pavilion and saw lambs, piglets, and baby chicks.

I realize that this picture is off the back of the lambs head, but I still think it is very cute. :)

At the petting zoo we saw a baby giraffe, zebra, and kangaroo.

The zebra wouldn't hold still.

Later on we saw a presentation on raptors, by pioneer park. They showed us a barn owl, barred owl, and a screech owl.
