Today at Whole foods I bought 10 stalks of gladiolus for 3.99, I was so thrilled! There were all kinds of colors, but I chose a light purple. I'll post more pictures when they are in full bloom. I absolutely love cut flowers especially gladiolus.
Today is the county fair entry day! Elliot and I have been preparing our projects to enter. Elliot is entering a Rocket, and cowboy cookies. I'm entering my crocheted rag rug, crocheted book back, a blackberry pie, and a few pictures I took in Missouri. Good luck at the fair Elliot!
While we were in Mound city, MO we went to Good time Antiques. This shop was full of very interesting things. I really liked the milk bottles and kitchen accessories. We also saw some suitcases like the ones in Sound of Music, very cool!
While we were camping a very nice lady moved into the campsite across the street from us. She had a brand new miniature Dachshund puppy named Charlie. He was the cutest ever, look at his little paws!! Rachael, Elliot and I loved holding and playing with him!
While we were camping we went to Squaw Creek national wildlife refuge. We were able to hike one of the trails and drive around the large lake. The lake is covered with Lilly pads!! We weren't sure if there was any water left at first...
This is the same lake, except in October.
We did end up seeing some great blue herons and geese, not much really. But the hike was absolutelybeautiful. The weather couldn't have been any more perfect!
Today I went shopping with my very good friend Hannah and her mom. We went to the Countryside village together and shopped the sidewalk sale (in the rain). We stopped at a florist shop and one of the employees gave us a mini botany class all about the flowers, I loved it!! Later on we went to string of pearls ( a yarn shop) and tried on the shawls and sweaters there. Thank you Mrs. V for bringing me shopping with you!
Today I was at a recording studio with some of my friends from our bright lights group. We recorded a song together, for the new Bright Lights Ministries CD. Thank you Rachel for being so patient and gracious with us.
Today I found a new setting on my camera! How it works is you can take up to three pictures and then the camera will "stitch" the pictures together. Here are just a few of my attempts to try it out. I still need to work on it.
Last week we went to jazz on the green at Joslyn art museum down town with some of our good friends. We enjoy listening to the music, visiting, and playing tag "on the green". Before the music started and during intermission we went inside the museum and looked around. What fun!! Elliot and the other boys helped some of our fellow "blanket neighbors" look for a lost screw in the grass for their fold up table, sadly the screw was never found.
This week and last week I have been making a lot of pierogies. Pierogies are polish dumplings, you can use potato, cheese, cabbage, or fruit filling. Last week my Dad taught me how to make them. My favorite kind to make (and eat) are potato. This week I taught a group of friends how to make them, we had a lot of fun together.
