The Gold Crest Columbia

I believe this bike has been sitting in the yard sale man's garage for 38 years just for me! My latest desire has been to have a beach cruiser, so I have been praying for one. Over the weekend mom saw a yard sale with an old bike that had a basket on the front. So she pulled a U turn and we headed to the sale. After some very easy minutes of bargaining we bought the bike for $35, along with a dirt bike for Elliot and another bike for mom buying it all for a total of $75. I wasn't sure if I was up for the challenge of cleaning this bike up, it appeared to have a fair amount of rust on it, the tires needed help and I wasn't lovin' the brown color. But it was a great deal and I knew that I wasn't going to be easy to get the $350 perfect beach cruiser from the bike shop. So I took the challenge! We asked around for advice on how to approach fixin' it up and this is what we did. We wiped it down, hosed is off, and lubed it up....ta- da! I have a beach cruiser! It turned out the 'brown' color is really a sparkly dark red, the "rust" on the bike was mainly just years of layered dust that wiped off, and the tires just needed to be blown up.

prayer + 2 hours of work + $35 = Perfection!!
